Mission Statement

Most of my reasons for practicing medicine are shared by other physicians – the pleasure of mastering skills and obtaining knowledge, but most importantly for me is the satisfaction of helping people. Although there are patients who may not want or need our help, or may need it but we are unable to provide it, still I find even these negative aspects of medicine positive because they can provide opportunities for personal growth. Being in the position to make large differences in somebody life through what seems like a small intervention is definitely what makes being a physician one of the most rewarding professions.

I was fortunate to have had an experience that led me to want to practice medicine. One of the most important persons in my life was my grandfather who became chronically ill. My desire to personally treat my grandpa drove me to choose pre-medical studies. Then I had subsequent experiences in nursing homes that increased my drive to alleviate suffering of the elderly. I was able to communicate easily with them because I saw elements of my grandfather in each one of them. I find that when I am able to connect with a patient, on a one-to- one level, it permeates to other levels. A physician generally needs the cooperation of a patient to alleviate or cure an illness, thus the better our communication the better compliance. So my big emphasis is on connecting one-to- one with each patient, which helps us for treatment success. Although my analytical thinking, which was enhanced by five-years in medical research, plays a crucial role in my practice I believe my great connection with the majority of patients is an extremely important factor in compliance of my patients and ultimately their treatment success.

I have always been fascinated with the human brain so it was natural for me to choose neurology. For me, there is no other medical specialty as exciting as neurology. It is my passion, which coupled with my gift to easily communicate with the majority of my patients helps me to practice neurology that I am very proud of.

  • What are your hours?

The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Patients are seen on an appointment basis only. Our phone number is answered by staff from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm except for lunch hour, which is generally from 11:30 until 1:00 pm. We will make every effort to honor your appointment time, and request that you extend the same courtesy to us. If there is an emergency and your doctor is running late, we will offer to reschedule your appointment at a time that is convenient for you. If you are running late, we will also attempt to fit you in as time allows but might have to reschedule your appointment for another date and/or time.

  • Do I still need my family physician?

Your family physician is in charge of your general health care, and he or she is aware of your total health needs. When the neurological disorder is your major problem, the family physician may temporarily relinquish responsibility and the neurologist becomes your primary physician. A report of your neurological consultation will always be sent to your referring physician. It is possible for you to continue seeing your neurologist strictly for your neurological problems while relying on your family physician for your total medical care. Please remember, that in order to assure the best possible health care for you and your family, you should always inform the doctor if you are seeing one or more doctors, and what medications, if any, you are currently taking.

  • What is covered?

We may, from time to time, recommend diagnostic tests or procedures, which are not covered by your insurer, HMO or PPO unless authorized before the test or procedure is performed. It is your responsibility to make sure that the authorization for the test or procedure has been granted. In addition, please be aware that many insurers HMOs or PPOs will only cover your hospital stay at certain hospitals and prior authorization for hospital admissions is usually required. It is important that you be aware of your insurance company's policies and knows which hospitals you may use.

  • How is payment handled?

At the end of your visit, you will receive a statement of charges. Our office policy is that payment is due at the time services are rendered. Other arrangements can be made depending on special circumstances. If you wish, we will accept your Visa or MasterCard. Our Physicians and Office Manager invite you to discuss with them any questions you might have regarding our services or fees. We believe that the best medical service is based on a friendly, mutual understanding between the doctor and the patient.
